Equine Therapy and the Veterans Program

The Veterans Program harnesses the healing power of horses to support those who have previously served or are currently serving our country. Through meaningful connection with horses and peers, participants have reported significant benefits including reduced stress, increased confidence, enhanced relationship-building skills, and improved trust in others. Open to Veterans of all ages, backgrounds, and branches, the program requires no prior equine experience, only a willingness to engage. Participants come together year round, building camaraderie while representing the program at community events such as the Horse Fair, Adair County Fair, the Norwalk Fourth of July Parade, and the Covered Bridge Festival. The Veteran program is more than an equine program; it’s space for connection, purpose, and most importantly - healing.

“After my time in the service, I struggled to identify who I was outside of my uniform. This program provided the peace, friendships, and emotional support that I wasn’t even aware I needed. It guided my transition to civilian life, providing purpose and direction - making it easier.”
