Parent & Guardian Resources

We hope you find everything you need to prepare for a successful experience at Wildwood Hills Ranch. Having questions is normal and we know that having your student away from home for a week can come with some anxiety and worry. We want to reassure you that Wildwood Hills Ranch prioritizes safety, as it is one of our core values.

Your child’s safety is of the highest priority at Wildwood Hills Ranch, which is why we’ve implemented a comprehensive Child Protection Plan. An important element of our Child Protection Plan is a strictly enforced policy called Double Coverage. There must always be a 2:1 staff member to child ratio - no exceptions. As you know, Wildwood Hills Ranch is not a typical ranch - we specialize in collaborating with community partners all over the state of Iowa to identify at-risk children who might benefit from our programming. Parents and guardians work directly with their community partner or school to register their student and obtain all the important information needed to complete their registration

We've outlined some questions you may have below.  If you have additional questions, please contact your community partner.

Program Rotations

Students rotate through seven exciting program areas designed to buid confidence, develp new skills, and create lasting memories. From agriculture, acquatics, art, music, team-building, horses, and wellness, ever experience is intentionally designed to help students grow. Your student will create meaningful artwork, build trust with their horse, and strengthen communication skills through the low ropes and high ropes couses.  They will enjoy time at the lake swimming, kayaking, fishing, sliding down the water slide and of course the giant blob. Every rotation offers a new opportunity to build relationships and develop leadership skills that last long after their time at The Ranch.
