SADDLES AFTER SERVICE

In the Ranch’s relaxed and positive environment, veterans and active service members can find healing from PTSD, anxiety and other struggles that they face upon returning from war zones.

Horses, being nonjudgmental animals with no preconceived expectations or motives, are highly effective at mirroring attitudes and behaviors of the humans with whom they are working. The metaphoric experience provides veteran and therapist bases for discussion and processing both during and after the equine therapy experience.

In this relaxed and positive environment, veterans and service members can find healing from post-traumatic stress, anxiety and other struggles that they face upon returning from war zones. The goal is to help veterans and service members learn values and develop needed skills such as accountability, responsibility, self-confidence, problem solving and self control.

We are honored to serve veterans and service members from the Domiciliary (in-patient care) at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System who attend weekly therapy sessions in six-week blocks. You can see our veterans and service members in action performing flag presentations at parades, rodeos and festivals throughout the state of Iowa.
